I've never played exploding kittens, so I don't know. But the idea is you have a "stable" and you're trying to get 6-7 unicorns in your stable (depending on how many players there are). The cards have different effects which can help you or make things harder for your opponents.

Now I'm wondering what exploding kittens is like. I think my cousin got it as a birthday gift once, I'll have to ask her to play it with me next time i see her.

exploding kittens is really confusing to learn, but TONS of fun. basically, you take turns drawing from a stack of cards, hoping that you don’t draw an “exploding kitten” card. if you draw that card, you explode and die and you’re out of the game. however, there are lots of other useful cards in the deck and in your hand that help you avoid exploding and ones you can sabotage the other players with. it’s a blast (pun intended?)!

I’ve played both because my sisters own them! They are fun once you learn though it does take a bit to learn the rules.
