You can! First go to the dropdown menu in the top right corner (it will be your username and profile picture), then click on user control panel, profile, edit account settings. You type your new username under username, confirm your current password and submit!

That's strange, the ACP says anyone can change their username.

It does work for mobile. I'm a mobile only as well.
